Hyundai Motor boosted December 2009 sales 34% year on year to 296,745 units as four of five makers reported volume increased for the month.

Exports rose to 221,036 from 179,159.

Affiliate Kia saw a 32% rise in total volume to 167,525 units, from 126,566 a year ago, with exports up to 121,002 from 99,059.

Key non-US market Chevrolet brand source GM Daewoo shifted 66,298 units in December, versus 40,311, and exported 51,666 (34,606).

Renault Samsung volume was 23,228 compared with 15,581 in the final month of 2008. Exports rose from 6,380 to 7,288.

Sales by SUV specialist Ssangyong fell to 5,379 from 5,540. Exports dipped to 1,790 from 2,587 in December 2008.
