SOUTH AFRICA: 3000 Nissan workers down tools over pension wrangle
More than 3,000 workers at the Nissan factory near Pretoria are on strike over the generation of a surplus of 245 million rand ($US22.7 million) in Nissan SA#;s retirement funds, writes Richard Hurst. A spokesman for the National Union of Metal Workers (Numsa), Dumsa Ntuli, said that the workers had downed tools quickly while the company had urgently sought a court order to stop workers from participating in industrial action.
