Vehicle sales in Thailand fell 10.8% year on year to 548,871 units in 2009 after a drop of 2.5% in 2008, according to industry-wide figures compiled by the local Toyota Motor distributor.

December sales were up 22.2%. This was the fourth consecutive months of sales rises after 15 months of falls.

December sales were lifted by economic recovery and commodity prices, Reuters reported, noting that 2010 sales were projected to rise 9.4% to 600,000.
