Five years ago, high-blend biofuels – notably bioethanol E85 - were being touted by some of the region’s largest carmakers as one of the most promising short- to medium-term alternatives to fossil fuels. Now there is barely any mention of them outside of Sweden. This month’s management briefing looks at whether the future for biofuels is dead and buried in Europe, or if they still have the potential to contribute to the reduction of the region’s road transport CO2 emissions.
