General Motors' European unit has confirmed media reports earlier this week that Opel/Vauxhall plans extra shifts at its Ellesmere Port (England) and Gliwice (Poland) plants to meet high demand for the five-door Astra Sports Tourer wagon and five-door hatchback. Eight additional shifts are planned per plant for the months May, June and July.
Q&A with Antaya Technologies
The EU has now removed the exemption for using lead in the solder for electrical connection soldering for glazing applications (such as for heated rear screens). As such, any new model seeking type approval after 1 January 2013 will be required to use lead-free solder for such applications.
