Automechanika Frankfurt this year was the best ever !

The total number of exhibitors this time were 4,658 - four percent more than in 2004 - from 72 countries. The main increases were from Brazil, China, India and Turkey.

The total number of visitors was over 165,000, beating the previous record of 163, 564 in 2004. More than 60,000 of these came from outside of Germany from 130 countries demonstrating once more the highly international profile that this event continues to enjoy.

It is very much hoped that you were able to visit this key international event and were able to develop some new business opportunities. If instead you did not visit, then you probably missed a great opportunity of increasing your international business !

The dates for the next Automechanika Frankfurt are 16 to 21 September 2008. You are strongly advised to make a note of these key dates now and start planning already. Should you wish to exhibit rather than visit, applications will be accepted from April 2007 and space allocation will be from September 2007.

You do not, however, have to wait until September 2008. Instead, you are urged to very seriously consider exhibiting at one or more of the other Automechanika events held in key global automotive markets. Especially if you are targeting these markets for your business.

As a reminder, the remaining events in the Automechanika Worldwide programme for 2006 and 2007 are:-

Automechanika St. Petersburg - 25 to 29 October 2006

Anpact Expo Transporte Mexico - 15 to 17 November 2006 (also 14-17 Nov. 2007)

NB. In 2008, the programme will also include Thailand & Korea. Furthermore other key global automotive markets are constantly under review so please watch this space for further developments.

All of these events are highly successful in their own right and attracting ever-increasing numbers of both exhibitors and visitors from many countries around the world.

So by not participating you are probably missing out on some real international business opportunities. Whereas your competitors, who probably are there, are not !

So please discuss these key events urgently within your company and then plan to fully participate at those relevant to your business.

Please remember also that by participating as an exhibitor at any of these events, you will be able to benefit from the supporting 'match-making' programmes whereby you will be introduced to companies interested in your products and services. And this in addition to the work you will do yourselves both prior to and during each event.

Global market review of starter motors and alternators – forecasts to 2016 (download)

A major trend has been the gradual emergence of eco-friendly vehicles, which have systems that automatically switch off vehicle engines during idling, for instance at red traffic lights. According to various research studies, vehicles are at a standstill for one-third of the time while in urban areas. Stop-start systems could help make cities quieter, boost fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust pipe emissions.
