RE: GERMANY: Auto Windscreens acquired by Arques

I only wish i was part of it but im looking at what they say and all the comms they send out about whats happening etc and if it does what it says on the tin then happy days.
I hear what your saying, and there are loads of good managers and some not so good and loads of solid fitters out there but ARQUES has decided to go to hand helds a new system and a mobile workforce, this is there plan union or not easy to blame them, welcome to the digital world, if Arques dont try we fold, and if they dont make it work then they get nothing for us. im sick of the doom and gloom so trying to look on the brightside
No work is coming to us so they gotta go get it back from the street,i hear some new contracts have been won if the work comes in then the money can be earned.
I see 10 sales reps have joined the company im sure they will have to earn there crust with the new regime.

RE: GERMANY: Auto Windscreens acquired by Arques

It seems that the main word that keeps being bounced about is "IF"
It's good that AW is looking toward the future, handhelds, logistcal work planning, canopy vans, the main problem is that the people at the top are still in the past.

You could put wings on the vans, rollerskates on the fitters, it wont make a difference unless the work is coming in. 10 new sales reps you say; have you seen how much we try to sell glass for? we make our own glass and sell it to other companies cheaper than we offer it for sale ourselves. Do you feel like hiding when a customer walks in off the street and you have to look them in the eye and quote the price on the screen?

Supervisors will lose out by about 200 a month but will still be expected to carryout this role when the manager is off (if this is the case, nobody is willing to state if the managers are still going to be around in 4 weeks time)
Managers, good or bad have tried to keep their fitters working and in a job but they cant pull jobs out of the air.

Does anyone have some positive news? No more doom and gloom, it's a job after all. Although 6.54ph for a skilled trade, why bother when you can get 7+ for cleaning

yes but surely "too many cooks will spoil the broth" wont they, as having loads of reps doesnt necessarily mean that they will pull in a phenomenal amount of new or previous business contacts to assist the regrowth of A/W, its ok paying "gophers" substantial wages, but it may be too little too late, do people not think???????????????

im just finding it hard to comprehend why people say all the riff raff got the boot, no they didnt, i was fully qualified, at the top of my game, very few comebacks, and would not think a split second about getting the most out of the company financially, you set yourself goals and strive to achieve them whatever it may take, and i have worked for half a dozen different managers at A/W and all had varying opinions of what the company values were/are. sadly may i say that a couple of the "best ones" are sadly part of the statistics, and are no longer a part of the A/W family.

also i had the good fortune and opportunity to be under some of the best regional managers, one inparticular that wasnt going to give me the chance to join the A/W team at first, but stuck his neck out and gave me an olive branch and for that reason i will always be indebted to him, to retrain and to do the job i was born to do!!!!!

i hope arques do do the do, and it turns the business around, because i wouldnt want to see all the good people i worked with during my days become redundant, but in the back of my mind i will always think of that quote "you cant re-educate custard can you????

im loving all the comments that are being left on here and also keeping up-to-date of all the happenings and goings on in my old workplace.

i will ALWAYS feel cheated by certain people at A/W and that probably wont change during my lifetime, some of you may say im bitter and twisted, but i simply say that "the cruel hand of fate" lashed out and cast me aside like an old holed sock lol.

Finally got on here, been trying for ages.

Only the one question for now.

Who do I have to speak to, to get a honest answer, I dont care if it's not what I want to hear, just want the company to be up front.

hi guys .. i can rember when we were the guys !! lol ... i worked for aw 22 years 5 of them fitting , the rest as a manager , i was also asked to help with the icon / oracle pmsl !! i told the powers at aw , its was no good four years ago .. now we all know that .. DL JT ETC HAVE HAD A GOOD PAY OUT .. and gone , the main thing that the oracle wont allow any one to do is fight for work !! the price is set in stone and thats it !! they have taken the power away from the local managers who at that time knew there customer base

in short i am now a member of a LOCAL WINDSCREEN CO .. and i have taken all my customers with me !!
companys need price . service . and most of all some one they know !!

I had 22very good years at aw , and yes I had a good pay out , under NU
but you have a mupet running the company and a even bigger one under him !! you cant get back what you have lost !!! your days have gone when you were the dogs!!

all the best paul Wink
