Well if BMW had'nt dumped Longbridge where the BMW mini was originally planned to be made then there would have been plenty of capacity, and the skilled workers to make it. Short sighted, xenophobic, as ever

As a BMW worker making mini's I would like to comment on the artical. We are nowhere near 'full capacity on production. Over the last few years the shifts have worked a 72 hour week, but before that it was 144 ! What's stopping us going back to full production ?

In my opinion because bmw have excess capacity in Bavaria and they would rather fill that first. They are only in Cowley and Hams Hall as a result of the Rover debacle - the future plan will be to get out of the UK and avoid the uncertaintyof the sterling vs Euro.
