Autoliv is a Swedish company in automotive safety based in Vårgårda Municipality. It is a worldwide leader in its business and a pioneer in both seat belts and airbags. It has 80 subsidiaries and joint ventures in over 30 countries. Autoliv describes itself as the world's #1 producer of car safety equipment, and says it wants to help people in autos stay alive. The company hopes to save lives by increasing the survivability statistics for traffic accidents (500,000 people die every year in traffic accidents worldwide). Autoliv makes components such as seat belts, airbags, anti-whiplash systems, and safety electronics. Other products include rollover-protection systems, steering wheels (with airbags), night vision systems, and child seats. Its three major customers are Ford (23% of revenues), Renault (15%), and General Motors (12%). Autoliv has 20 crash-test tracks, 12 technical centers, and 80 production facilities in 30 countries.
