The IT industry has made much of the benefits of a Cloud infrastructure, offering better security and less complex networks in the workplace. Infotainment specialist Harman with subsidiary Aha claims its use in the car could be equally effective. It is now offering OEMs and service providers a chance to use the Cloud beyond downloading apps, navigation updates or music. Q&A with CAP-XX: Supercapacitors for stop-start

Australia’s CAP-XX Ltd is developing supercapacitors to provide high power support to automotive stop-start systems, protecting and extending the operating life of the car's battery in the process. New vehicle sales in the Philippines rose by 28% to a new monthly high of 28,667 units in October, from 22,278 units in the same month of last year, according to data released jointly by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). The associations’ data does not include sales of some key importers, including Hyundai, Chevrolet and Subaru, which together typically account for around 15% of the total market.

Subaru plans further US plant expansion

Fuji Heavy Industries' subsidaiary Subaru said it plans to spend an additional US$140m on its Lafayette car plant in Indiana, USA, over the next two years to expand capacity. The automaker in 2013 announced a US$400m plan to add an assembly line for the Impreza sedan which is scheduled to go into production at the end of 2016.
