January in this part of the northern hemisphere is pretty horrid being cold, grey, dark and damp, interspersed this year by joy over a certain cricket result Down Under (you've still got the sun, if not the Ashes, so stop moaning, unless in waterlogged Queensland) and various inept bureaucrats all pointing in a circle in an attempt to blame someone else or pretend mounds of household rubbish haven't been piling up for up to a month and that roads, footpaths and airports were promptly cleared of the pre-Christmas snow.

INDIA: PSA mulls Indian plant sites
PSA Peugeot-Citroen appears to be finalising plans to set up manufacturing base in India. A high-level delegation this week met the chief minister of Tamil Nadu (a coastal state in Southern part of India), Ms J Jayalalithaa, in Chennai, to present a proposal to set up an integrated automobile plant in Sriperumbudur, 45km west of the capital Chennai regarded as a key automobile hub in India. The delegation was headed by Gregoire Olivier, head of Asian operations.
CHINA: No Guangqi Fiat Chryslers for now
Guangqi Fiat will not produce Chrysler vehicles in China, the Beijing Youth Daily reported. "[We] are currently not considering domestic manufacture of Chrysler vehicles, [and] likewise there has been no change to our production capacity," a spokesman for the joint venture said.
BRAZIL: Car and LCV sales slip 4.5%
Brazilian sales of cars and light trucks fell 4.5% in June from May, but the total for the first half of the year surpassed forecasts.
