Global vehicle production at Toyota Group (including Daihatsu and Hino) declined by 12.6% to 791,665 units in October as demand slumped in major markets.

Toyota's October sales in Japan were off 6.9% on last year at 177,606 units.

However, a bright spot for Toyota was its Daihatsu subsidiary that specialises in small cars.

Total production of Daihatsu vehicles in October was up 11.5% to 82,780. That was the twenty-fourth consecutive month of increase due to increased production for the brand (mainly in Indonesia). Daihatsu sales in Japan were up 13.9% to 55,128 units in October.

In the first ten months of the year Toyota Group vehicle production stood at 8,004,661 units, 1.4% ahead of the same period last year.
