US: Ford recalls 470,000 Mustangs

28 February 2008 | Source: just-auto.com editorial team

Ford has recalled 470,000 Mustang sports cars to update air bag software.

Models from the 2005-2008 model years will have software recalibrated to adjust the force with which the passenger side airbag deploys.

The recall follows an internal test which showed the air bag could injure a small passenger not wearing a seat belt, reported dpa-AFX.

There were no suggestions of any injuries relating to the issue.

Earlier this week Nissan Europe said it would voluntarily recall some 2005-2008 Navara pickups to update airbag control software after crash testing organisation EuroNCAP highlighted a delay in airbag activation times during a test of the model.

EuroNCAP is expected to publish re-test results for the Navara soon.
