New car registrations in Germany in October rose 24% year on year to 321,000 vehicles, the Association of International Motor Vehicles Manufacturers, or VDIK, said on Tuesday.

In the first 10 months of the year, new car registrations rose 26% to 3,312,000 vehicles.

Dow Jones noted analysts are watching the October data, after government funds for the car purchase incentive scheme introduced at the end of January ran dry in early September.

VDIK expects new car sales of around 3.7m while German automobile industry association VDA has said it expects around 3.5m.

In 2008, 3.09m new cars were registered, according to VDIK.
