The November passenger car market in Western Europe slackened after a relatively strong trend in September and October. Figures released by LMC/JD Power appear to dash hopes of a European demand upturn. The French market displayed more obvious weakness in November and the UK market's contribution to the European total fell back. On the plus side, the German market was strong, although the outlook there is somewhat tempered by deteriorating news on the economic front. And the Italian market recovery owes much to artificial stimulus in the shape of customer incentives.
