European car market records solid start to the year
The flipside to December 2005's lower than expected incentives boost to the European new car market was that there was as a consequence less 'payback' in January. Indeed, the January market turned out to be 2% ahead of last year's - a solid result overall. There were relatively strong starts in a number of national markets, including Germany.
