Renault SA may replace Turkey with Romania as the main supplier of kits for a $300m project to produce 120,000 cars a year in Russia, sources told today. A switch could signal new thinking at the French group about brand strategy for emerging markets because the vehicles in Russia likely would retain the badge of the factory in Romania, SC Automobile Dacia SA, bought by Renault in September 1999. (All models from Oyak Renault Otomobil Fabrikalari AS in Turkey bear the French marque.)
