ASEAN vehicle sales to peak in 2004
Vehicle sales in the ASEAN region's top six markets increased by almost 19% in the first half of 2004 to just under 860,000 units, spurred on by low interest rates, the continued growth of consumer credit and strong domestic consumption. GDP growth across the region accelerated sharply in the first half of the year, with additional industry momentum derived from recovering demand in key overseas markets - particularly the USA and Japan.
